Eerie October Fun - Halloween isn't just for trick-and-treaters anymore. These Halloween-themed collectible trains and villages are "flying off the shelves." In fact, it's all Hawthorne Village® can do to introduce enough new products to keep up with the demand. Some, like the John Deere® Halloween village, may summon up old-fashioned Halloween fun. Others may summon up more recent creepy visions. But all are high-quality, limited-run collector's items that you can proudly display for years to come.
The good news is that two brand new villages are available, a black light version of the Nightmare Before Christmas(r) village, and a Diagon Alley village, on which some of the houses, like Olivander's wand shop, have interiors. Again, don't wait too long to order if you like either of these.
Halloween Trains and Towns Primer Page Since we introduced this Halloween Trains buyer's guide page, we have received many questions and project ideas for Halloween trains and towns - way too many to present here. So we've put together a primer page to help you:
Most of the products on this page are available by subscription, which means that you sign up for them like you would a magazine and get a package about every four weeks for the next four months. For more information on subscription trains, please refer to the "About Subscription Trains" article. The accessory packages, however, are sold as single-purchase packages.
The Hawthorne Village trains are exquisitely detailed and warranteed for one year against manufacturing defects by Hawthorne Village®. The mechanical parts of each train are manufactured and warranteed by the Bachmann company, the world's largest model railroad manufacturer, so parts, service, and accessories will always be available.
Although service will always be available, it is worth noting that the products on this page will not. Most of them are "limited runs" which will be discontinued after the initial "run" of products is completed. In most cases, this means that the time will come when these trains and villages are unavailable except from other collectors who will demand a huge profit. (A good number of the e-mails we receive about these products ask us to track down trains that are no longer available, so as Dave Barry used to say, we're not making this up!)
Note about Suppliers: While we try to help you get the products you want by recommending suppliers with a good record of customer service, all transactions between you and the supplier you chose to provide your trains are governed by the published policies on the supplier's web site. So please print off any order confirmation screens and save copies of invoices, etc., so you can contact the appropriate supplier should any problems occur. (They almost never do, but you want to be on the safe side.)
Note about Deadlines: These issues arrive about once a month, so the earlier you get started the more you will have to display this Halloween season.

You're among the first to see this brand-new item from The Bradford Exchange Online! This collection is so new that Bradford Exchange hasn't even had time to prepare marketing materials. But as you can see from the photo, this collection starts with a building that had a complete interior - Olivander's wand shop. Demand will be outrageous, I'm sure. OthersI just invented a new category, because some of these are so unusual, I'm not sure where to put them.
Harry Potter's Hogwarts Express® - At long last, an model of the Hogwarts Express™ that is big enough for small hands to operate. Fantasy lovers will enjoy a magical journey that is portrayed in J.K. Rowling's enchanting Harry Potter series. Train lovers will enjoy a truly historic event in the world of toy and model trains. This is the first European train ever modeled in O gauge by Lionel! It is also the only train on this page that runs on O gauge, 3-rail track, like the Lionel trains of old.
Okay, a "Harry Potter" train may not quite seem like a "Halloween" train, and it may be too big to go around your Halloween village. But this is such a neat product, I wanted all of my readers to have a chance to see it before it became impossible to get this year. To learn more about the Lionel Hogwarts Express click here

Accessories for All Trains and Villages on This PageAs different as they may look, all of the trains on this page are mechanically interchangeable. They are On30 trains, built on frames made by the Bachmann Corporation, the world's largest model train manufacturer. The track they all use is the same EZ-Track that Bachmann sells for HO trains, so if you order more than one Hawthorne Village train, you can use the track from each set interchangeably.
