Candy Mold IdeasNote: This is actually the start of an article that I haven't finished yet. However, I've posted it because it has some useful photographs and ideas. If you have tried this or something like it, please let me know, and I'll add anything you have (especially photos) to this page. Thanks - PaulThe next time you're near a place that sells candy-making supplies, check out those flexible plastic molds people make "homemade candies" with. You know, the kind that transforms "coating chocolate" into mints, candy eggs, chocolate rabbits, and suckers?
I wouldn't recommend using coating chocolate as a permanent structural material to be used outside, but I would consider experimenting with anchoring cement. Spray the mold first with PAM or something similar, and pop the roof out soon after it sets up, to make certain it doesn't bond permanently to your mold and turn it into a one-use product. If you don't mind paying more for shipping than you do for the molds, you can find these on the Web. Two places that have a selection are:
