This photo shows the north end of the proposed mainline. To see the whole photo (which I took holding the camera sideways, so it's taller than it is wide), click on the picture above. The south loop is visible at some distance.
At the time I took this, I had just laid a row of ties along what would become the "back" (western) edge of the north loop, and started piling dirt from various sources up against them. I had also got some Dwarf Alberta Spruce cheap at the end of the year, so I planted them in a row. Most of them got moved later, though, when the right-of-way went in.
At the time, I was hoping to get the north loop done by, say 2001. Actually it wasn't done until 2002, and barely made it then, due in part to trees falling on the railroad that March. To see a photo of what the north loop looked like in October of 2005 (although taken from a different angle), click on the photo to the right. You should know that all the buildings shown are on the ground, even though it looks like a couple might be the same level as the raised part. I have other buildings that go on the upper level at the "back" (western) edge of the loop, but they were already put up by the time this photo was taken.
